I stumbled across your website whilst researching the Poole family. I can add a little information for you. Harriet Bradnam married Thomas Adams in 1855 and had six children (more than you have listed) including Hannah. Hannah married Isaac Poole in 1877. Isaac is the brother of Alfred Poole who married Kate Mary Bradnam in 1888. Obviously the Poole boys took a shine to your family. One set of Steeds I was hoping to find but didn’t was Thomas Steed (b1810), his wife Mary Ann (b1801) and their son John Steed (b1840). According to the 1851 census these three were living in Sudbury, Suffolk. Thomas Herbert, Thomas and Mary’s son-in law was living there too. A John Poole was living with them. His age and occupation makes him a good bet to be Isaac and Alfred’s brother, and my great grandfather. I wondered if these members of the steed family are relatives of yours? Anyway, a great site and an enormous help to me.10 August 2007 – Sudbury, Suffolk |

Recently I have learnt that the spelling of my grandfather’s surname may have been Bradham or Bradnam. His christian names were Sidney James. I was told he was born in a pub in either Sussex or Essex. It’s believed he stowed away on a ship from England to Australia so was an illegal immigrant, thus making it difficult to access any records here in Australia. My mother is 86 and Sidney James was her father. He died in the early 60’s and is buried at Botany Bay. If anyone might have any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, it would be gratefully accepted.4 August 2007 – Brisbane Australia |

My father Sidney Charles Hurrell, emigrated to Australia in 1957, I was trying to find out his origins. I think his family were from Haverhill. I would love to hear from any distant relatives.6 March 2007 – Maidstone, Kent |
